I didn’t expect to see someone from the Obama camp to agree with our president, but there it is. We do have a national border crisis, and we do need to resolve it NOW rather than later. It’s at a boiling point. Our resources are overstretched and the truth is, there are just too many people coming here for us to deal with all of them.
“When I was in office in Kirstjen Nielsen’s job, at her desk, I’d get to work around 6:30 in the morning and there’d be my intelligence book sitting on my desk, the PDB, and also the apprehension numbers from the day before,” Johnson said. “And I’d look at them every morning, it’d be the first thing I’d look at. And I probably got too close to the problem, and my staff will tell you if it was under 1,000 apprehensions the day before that was a relatively good number, and if it was above 1,000 it was a relatively bad number, and I was gonna be in a bad mood the whole day.”source
“On Tuesday, there were 4,000 apprehensions. I know that a thousand overwhelms the system. I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like, so we are truly in a crisis,” Johnson explained.Source
Whatever your belief system is, at some point you have to face the truth. The facts of the matter are we cannot handle the thousands of illegals pouring into our country every day. We cannot just let them in either. Not everyone is a legitimate “asylum seeker,” some are murderers, criminals, rapists, human traffickers, gang members, and drug runners, coming to do business here, or escape prosecution in another country.
For that matter, if someone is seeking asylum, they should go to the first country not in turmoil. Why pass up all these other countries just to cone here? Is it because we give them free shit? Why pass over Mexico on the Southern side? Is it OUR responsibility to take care of the world? No. Sorry to say, it isn’t.
The thought that just because someone travels 2000 miles to come here should be automatically let in , is absurd as well. Do we have the resources to process and welcome everyone into our country? There needs to be limits on the amount of people we allow in each year, there needs to be a vetting process, and we need to stick to it.
Partisanship needs to be let go when it comes to our nation’s security. We cannot let bickering between different camps deter us from making the right decisions for us all. Whether you like Trump or not should not be the deciding factor here. The question that needs to be answered is whether or not you like America.
