What country am I in?

More than 500 veterans with American flags line a procession route at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa, April 24, 2009, after providing a motorcycle escort for the unclaimed remains of seven Iowan veterans. The ceremony coincided with Navy Week in Des Moines, Iowa, which is one of 22 Navy Weeks planned across America in 2009. Navy Week is designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence. The Police department in Laguna Beach just painted American flags on 11 of their cars. Some people like it, myself included, while others say it “hurts people’s feelings.”

“People are screaming that the American flag on a police car is somehow or another … hurting people’s feelings who might be immigrants or visitors,” said Councilman Peter Blake. “People are actually ridiculous enough to bring up comments about our cop cars having American flags on them.”

this is America and this is our flag….deal with it!

Attorney Jennifer Welsh Zeiter said at the last council meeting that she found the police cars “exceptional” and questioned the loyalty of anyone who objected to the American flag display.
“They are so filled with hatred toward this … office of the president of the United States and the current occupant of that office,” she said, “that they cannot see through their current biases to realize that a police vehicle with the American flag is the ultimate American expression.”

Finally someone with some brains!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having the American flag on police cars in AMERICA. The town council of Laguna Beach will be discussing the “safety” of the logo in a few weeks. There’s nothing to discuss! Liberal policies have put the safety of our men and women in Blue at risk for years. The cop-hating, America-hating philosophy of “inclusiveness” has got to end. Laguna: take a stand, and let the flags fly!

I don’t care whose feelings are hurt here. We live in the United States of America, and our flag, Old Glory, is RED, WHITE, and BLUE. If you are a legal immigrant, you should like seeing the American flag. It represents the great country you live in, and all the opportunity that comes along with it.

If you are an illegal and our flag bothers you, then get out! If you are an American, and seeing our flag bothers you, leave! Go to some other country and see just how great it is there…then come back, and you will tear up at the sight of our flag. Guaranteed.

I can tell you what I don’t like:

  • Mexican/other nation’s flags waving on the streets during protests in our wonderful America; it’s very disrespectful to all Americans living here. You can have pride in your culture without being a douche about it.
  • Fascists burning our flag
  • Kneeling

If seeing our flag hurts your feelings, you need to do some self-examination. This IS the United States, and this is our flag.
