Like a true Socialist, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is proving she loves getting rich off of the general public. She held a fun run the other day, billing it as a way to help support the Green New Deal. She raised a little over 11K. What people that gave her money, in the form of a registration entry fee were not aware of, was the fact it was going directly into her coffers.
Two of the three websites she was using for the campaign said nothing about AOC receiving the money.
A vaguely worded notices on AOC’s Facebook page — saying that the run would support “U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & the Green New Deal” — worsened the confusion.
But the fine print on a third event-related website revealed the truth.
“Registration fees are contributions to AOC for Congress,” reads the legal disclosure on aoc5k.com, which lists the Federal Election Commission rules that donors must follow.
Even kids as young as 3 became unknowing political donors — ponying up $20 fees to join a kids’ 1k.
But by fudging the fact that those fees were actually campaign contributions, AOC may have enticed constituents into inadvertently breaking federal election laws.
Parents, for example, can’t contribute their own funds in a child’s name.
“It was a campaign fundraiser,” Ocasio-Cortez spokesman Corbin Trent said confirmed.
The participants paid more than $11,000 all told.
So you have parents of children donating to Political campaigns, which is definitely not permitted. What about foreigners donations? People who are not American citizens donating? Where are the watchdogs in New York? This was a super sketchy fundraiser…she duped people into thinking they were “saving the planet” all the while, keeping the money for herself.
Am I surprised? Nope.
