FACT CHECK: Alyssa Milano Says Gun Violence has Nothing to do with Mental Illness

More than half of all deaths by shooting in the United States in 2016 were suicides. 22,938 people with mental illness committed gun violence on themselves. 14,415 more people died that year from guns. Of those 14,415, only 71 were from mass shootings; the thing the left is so in an uproar about. Even with the recent shootings this year, suicides are still the number one cause of death from gun violence in America, leaving this “gun problem” a mental health issue.

It’s not the guns.

If gun legislation were to pass restricting gun ownership for people who suffer mental illnesses, for their own safety, then Alyssa Milano will have to give up the two guns she owns for “self defense,” because she just may commit gun violence on herself with them.

Again, the hypocritical Left shows their lack of insight and judgement. Mental health is probably the biggest issue in this country since deinstitutionalization. If the gun grabbers were interested in saving lives, they’d be addressing mental health policies and getting people who need it help. Instead, they attack the vessel they often use to end their suffering rather than the reasons they suffer.
