BREAKING NEWS: Jeff Sessions has announced he will run for his old US Senate seat in his native of Alabama. Sessions gave up the seat in 2017 after being tapped by President Donald Trump to serve as the 84th Attorney General of the United States.
Umm… let me think.
I’m not so sure I’m ready for him to come back to Congress or politics. You see it is because of Jeff Sessions and his past indiscretions that President Trump’s presidency was mired in a silly Russia Collusion hoax.
For three whole painful years, the nation was forced to endure an endless witch hunt orchestrated by the Democrats and liberal media. Simply because they were unable to accept defeat at the polls; they pushed a fake narrative that Trump colluded with Russia to win the election. For it was completely inconceivable Trump could have won the election on his own without cheating. He had to have had help.
So they cried aloud and demanded a special counsel be appointed to investigate. Eventually, Sessions, who had just gone through a painful confirmation hearing with Congress, acquiesced and recused himself from anything having to do with an investigation. But not before appointing his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, who from what we can tell is a Never Trumper.
Rosenstein immediately appointed Robert Mueller, also a Never Trumper, to investigate. This was the nexus of the Russia Collusion Hoax.
In the end, after three long painful years and nearly $30 million, numerous subpoenas, testimonies, and fake news, Mueller completed his report. It was given to Congress which they didn’t read. The final report confirmed what we all knew. There was no collusion. It’s Over! No there-there
None of this should have happened, but it did, because Jeff the attorney general, was weak and afraid of the left. He gave in to their silly demands. All he had to do was say “no collusion” and “no investigation”. Trump won deal with it. Republicans were in charge of both houses, at the time. They would have supported him, but instead, he recused himself.
President Trump never let Sessions forget this colossal disaster, during his stint as AG. He reminded him and the world of it every chance he got. Trump even lamented in a live television interview had he known Sessions would recuse himself, he would have never appointed him as attorney general.
Sessions recently appeared on the Tucker Carlson Show to discuss his pending senate run. He told Carlson that despite the fallout with the president, he still supports him and his agenda. He also said he understood how painful the Russia investigation was for the president.
That said, I go back to my opening reservations. I’m not so sure I’m ready for Sessions to comeback. Neither am I certain that I’m ready to forgive and forget. The let down is still too fresh, and I’m still in my feelings.
After all, the whole thing could have been avoided.
