The Washington Times reported yesterday that George Zimmerman is suing Democratic presidential candidates, Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg over tweets made on what would have been Treyvon Martin’s 25th birthday. Zimmerman killed Martin in self-defense in 2012 and was the subject of a much-publicized and controversial trial in which he was acquitted.
Zimmerman reportedly filed a lawsuit Tuesday in the Circuit Court for the 10th Judicial Circuit in Polk County, Florida. The lawsuit alleges that Warren and Buttigieg of “maliciously defamed” Zimmerman and used the killing as “a pretext to demagogue and falsely brand Zimmerman as a white supremacist and racist to their millions of Twitter followers.” Zimmerman is seeking $265,000,000.
On February 5, Warren tweeted,
“My heart goes out to @SybrinaFulton [Martin’s mother] and Trayvon’s family and friends. He should still be with us today,” Warren tweeted to her 3.7 million followers. “We need to end gun violence and racism. And we need to build a world where all of our children-especially young Black boys-can grow up safe and free.”
Buttigieg continued the race-baiting by adding,
“Trayvon Martin would have been 25 today. How many 25th birthdays have been stolen from us by white supremacy, gun violence, prejudice, and fear?”
The lawsuit was filed by Zimmerman’s attorney, Larry Klayman. In an announcement, Klayman said, “The obvious intent of Buttigieg and Warren’s Tweets is alleged race-baiting, in an attempt to draw African American votes during this Democrat presidential primary season,” according to WorldNetDaily
Klayman didn’t stop there. He unleashed on Warren and Buttigieg stating,
“Their despicable ‘race tactics’ are not only causing great harm to persons such as my client George Zimmerman, but also are damaging relations between black and white Americans who are all brothers. The nation should applaud Mr. Zimmerman for taking a strong stand and pushing back against hack politicians like Buttigieg and Warren, who know no bounds of decency and frankly could obviously care less about whom they hurt in their quest to dishonesty use and manipulate black voters to win the 2020 Democrat presidential primary.”
Klayman referred to the documentary, “The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America,” which portrays Zimmerman as a Hispanic who “was active in mentoring black youth” before the incident with Martin. In the documentary, Zimmerman recalls how he was stalked, ambushed, and severely beaten by Marting before shooting him in self-defense. According to Klayman, “The film and a companion book also provide incontrovertible evidence that Zimmerman was allegedly framed by the fake witness, and that witness fraud is the subject of a lawsuit filed in December 2019.”
Mr. Zimmerman was tried and acquitted in fair trial; it is despicable to continue to slander him for simply defending his life. The destructive race-baiting and character assassinations by the Left in order to pander for votes is disgusting and needs to stop. I hope Mr. Zimmerman sues Warren and Buttigieg into the poor house.
