No, Nancy, Impeachment is not Forever and President Trump is Acquitted.

Spread the love

Recently, House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has claimed that President Trump is forever impeached and that he is not really acquitted because they didn’t have a real trial; these have become the latest impeachment tropes being echoed by leftist lemmings throughout social media.

Just a bit of warning before we begin: This will not be my usual reserved self; this is going to be a bit of a rant. I’m sick of the Left’s constant poo-flinging. So in the words of Fredo, “Let’s get after it.”

Impeachment

That Lefties have little to no understanding of what impeachment means is evident by the flood of tweets celebrating that Trump was no longer president because he was impeached.

I guess it’s understandable. Even before Trump was sworn into office, calls to impeach him were shouted by morons like Rep. Maxine Waters, who has made, “Impeach 45!” her rallying cry. Rep. Rashida Tlaib celebrated her election victory by declaring, “We’re going to impeach the motherf@$ker!” The Left has whipped up impeachment frenzy in their brain-dead followers for nearly four years. These poor saps have awaited the impeachment of Pres. Trump with the same eager anticipation of Christians awaiting the return of Christ. And just as the Christians will be when the Lord returns, these dolts were enraptured with joy because Trump was no longer president. Hilariously, they were dumbfounded the next day, when they discovered that Trump was indeed still their president. Aw shucks! This truly is an indictment of our public school system, but as it has been controlled by the Left for decades, is that really a surprise?

So now that their hopes of impeachment have been shattered by acquittal, like Linus hugging his security blanket, they desperately cling to the idea that impeachment is forever and that Trump is not really acquitted. Forever impeached, what does that even mean? The lemmings can’t tell you, because an explanation has never been spoon-fed to them. Nevertheless, if you refer to Pres Trump on social media, there is always a moron ready to remind you that he is impeached.

According to Merriam-Webster, to impeach means, “to charge with a crime or misdemeanor.” Impeachment is nothing more than charges brought by the House against a government official. Impeachment is not forever; it is a temporary step in the removal of a president. Appearing on Fox’s Hannity, Harvard law professor emeritus, Alan Dershowitz responded to Pelosi’s idiotic claim:

“Nancy Pelosi doesn’t understand what impeachment is. What she has said is, even if the president is acquitted, the impeachment stands – No. That’s like saying that, if a person is indicted and the jury acquits 12-0 in five minutes, he’s still indicted. No – the impeachment disappears. The impeachment is only a grand jury presentment.”

I would take it a step farther and point that even if one is convicted of the charges, the charges themselves go away and become convictions. No one serving time in prison today is still charged with the crimes for which they were convicted.

Acquittal

Now, on to the other Pelosi absurdity: “He’s not really acquitted because the trial was not a real trial.” This stupidity was first uttered by Sen. Mazie Hirono when she accused the trial of being rigged. Speaking to Wolf Blitzer, she said,

“You don’t get acquitted when you don’t even get to call witnesses or relevant witnesses or have the documents because the president stonewalled all efforts on the part of the House to get the information they requested. So, there you go. It was a rigged trial. He can run around saying he was acquitted, but you don’t get acquitted in a rigged trial.”

This is absurd for a number of reasons. First, the House Democrats loved to justify their sham impeachment by pointing out that the Constitution grants the House the “sole power” to impeach. Impeachment is solely the House’s domain; they can do as they see fit. Well, the Constitution also grants the Senate the “sole power to try all impeachments.” The trial is the domain of the Senate; they can do as they see fit. Trump was denied due process and his 6th Amendment right to confront his accuser, aka, the whistle blower. The Democrats often downplay the importance of that by claiming the impeachment proceedings in the House are not legal proceeding so those rights don’t apply. Oh yeah? Tell that to this guy.

Second, there were witnesses and documents presented to the Senate, 17 witnesses and over 20K documents, in fact. The Senate allowed each side to present their case. They took a vote before the questioning phase to see if the Senate required additional witnesses or documents. The Democrats point to the fact that witness were subpoenaed in the Clinton trial; this is true. However, in the Clinton trial, all witnesses and documents had been gathered before the impeachment was submitted to the Senate. The Senate chose to subpoena three of those existing witnesses to appear for further off-site video depositions, of which excerpts were played for the Senate. No new witnesses were subpoenaed. The idea that the Senate would or should take over the House’s responsibility to investigate the House’s impeachment is absurd. Remember, unlike the House during impeachment inquiries, the Senate is fully engaged in an impeachment trial, as all Senators must be present to hear testimony. All witnesses and documents are expected to be gathered beforehand to keep the impact on the Senate to a minimum.

The trial was conducted properly, according to the rules voted on by the Senate; its outcome is, dare I say it, unimpeachable. The Democrats didn’t get what they wanted, so like spoiled children whose mother won’t give them a cookie, they scream, Unfair!’ and throw tantrums. They refuse to accept the reality that their sham impeachment failed by crying, Nu-uh!” I’m surprised they didn’t try holding their breath until they got their way. It is entirely the responsibility of the House to gather all the evidence they need to prepare their case; remember, they have the sole power to impeach. When they present the impeachment to the Senate, their case is supposed to be made; they’re not supposed to hand the Senate a rushed, poorly-prepared, and incomplete impeachment and say, “Fix it for us, Daddy!”

Why didn’t they get a district court order for Bolton and any other documents they wanted? Trump rejected their subpoenas as being invalid since there was no House vote authorizing an impeachment inquiry. If only there was a branch of government specifically tasked with settling such disputes. By golly, I believe the judiciary serves that very purpose. The Democrats say they didn’t want to be bogged down in legal battles. Why? What’s the rush? Isn’t “protecting our democracy” important enough to take the time to do things right? Clearly, they felt a need to get this done before the election in November.

They said that they must protect our democracy and that they couldn’t entrust that to free elections. Think about that claim for a minute. We have a republican form of government, but our type of government is democratic, meaning that we have periodic, free elections. We do not have a democratic form of government where the majority rules. So when we speak of our democracy, it is understood that we mean our democratic processes, i.e. elections. To say that the government must step in and decide for us because the outcome of elections can’t be entrusted to the voice of the people, is truly Orwellian. They essentially admit that they were using their power to impeach to target a political opponent and interfere with the 2020 election. Oh, the hypocrisy!

So what was this really about?

Did they honestly think they would get a conviction from a Republican-controlled Senate? Of course not. So why impeach, and why rush to do it before the election? The answer is that this was nothing more than a taxpayer-funded political smear campaign. They knew that a conviction was out of the question, but the impeachment inquiry allowed them to drag Trump through the mud, and the Senate trial, allowed them to smear Senate Republicans who they knew wouldn’t do their dirty work for them.

This was not a real attempt to remove Trump. The Democrats are hoping that with any luck, they might damage the Republicans enough to retake the Senate, maybe even gain a slim victory over Trump. There should be no doubt that if the Democrats manage to take the Senate and keep the House, they will come for Trump with a serious attempt to remove him from office.

So, all this rhetoric about not being acquitted and impeachments are forever is stupid nonsense, and they know it. However, they also know that the people listening to them are morons who make Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne look like geniuses. This is all about keeping up the poo-flinging at Trump and the GOP until the election. Fortunately, the majority of Americans are not the gullible imbeciles they take us for. Their failed attempt to shame our president and the GOP has only served to expose them for the corrupt, vile, and petty creatures they are. Rather than hurting Trump, they have driven many of their own moderate members and independents to Trump, giving him the highest rating yet. The recent Gallup poll shows that nearly 2/3 of all Americans feel they are better off today than they were 4 years ago. This is a higher number than Obama, Bush, or Clinton received. Break out the limes because the liberal tears are going to be extra salty this year.
