Warmer and wetter weather will ‘significantly reduce’ spread of coronavirus

Many experts believe that wetter and warmer weather will slow the spread of the Chinese Corona Virus as America heads into its summer months. It it has been speculated that 77 degrees and above may actually kill the virus.

For all the doomsday people who think this may go on forever let this be a glimmer of hope as a quick route to get over all of Americas social distancing procedures.

Washington Examiner reported

The spread of the coronavirus may slow significantly as the United States enters its summer months, and temperature and humidity rise, according to a recent study.

A group of scientists studied the infection rate of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, across 100 Chinese cities, each with at least 40 confirmed cases of the disease from Jan. 21-23, 2020. The researchers released their results in a study published on March 10, concluding that “high temperature and high relative humidity significantly reduce the transmission of COVID-19,” similar to influenza.

The scientists were able to study the spread of the disease before the Chinese government began a sweeping effort on Jan. 24 to contain the disease. The government implemented strict regulations that left much of the country seemingly lifeless as millions of people were isolated in their homes.

The Northern Hemisphere, including the U.S., officially entered spring on March 19. The study suggests that the spread of the coronavirus, now considered a pandemic, will slow with frequent rain and increasing temperatures.

In a study published Wednesday, researchers and virologists in France concluded that hydroxychloroquine, a drug developed in the 1950s to treat malaria, can be used to treat patients with the COVID-19 virus. Researchers found that the drug is more effective when paired with the antibiotic azithromycin.

President Trump announced on Thursday that the FDA was fast-tracking the drug for potential widespread use when more studies on its effects are done. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leading expert in the U.S. on infectious diseases, has downplayed the possibility that a cure may be found for the coronavirus. The best medical tool against the virus, a vaccine, is about a year to 18 months away from completion, according to Fauci.
