Chinese car company contributed to Nancy : Nancy Pelosi has quite the portfolio. Eyebrows raised when she bough a ton of Amazon stock at the onset of the Coronavirus lockdown, and now she’s turning heads again.
Now this may all be a coincidence.
Fact is however, a failing electric car company, BYD, backed by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., was recently given a $1billion dollar order to produce face masks.
Chinese car company contributed to Nancy : By the Numbers
Guess who is a contributor to Nancy’s campaign?
According to opensecrets.org, Nancy Pelosi has reported $3,468,269 grand total of contributions in the current election cycle. Berkshire Group contributed, which is a subsidiary of Bershire Hathaway. Berkshire Hathaway Energy also contributed. But wait, so did Cushman & Wakefield, another subsidiary..but yeah, it’s probably nothing…
Interesting the Chinese company would be awarded these funds since only months ago, members of Congress were trying to ban the sale of Chinese electric cars and busses, as they considered them national security threats.
These tables list the top donors to candidates in the 2019 – 2020 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organizations’ PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.
Pelosi wasn’t the only one to receive money from BYD or should we say Warren Buffett (10% stake in the company after all)? Newsom himself is on that list. Newsom has been begging Warren Buffett to purchase the failing PG&E company. Wonder if this will grease any palms.
BYD-America’s footprint includes Sacramento, where it is represented by one of the top lobby firms, the Weideman Group. It also has been a campaign donor, though not a major one by California standards. Ke Li, the president of BYD’s automotive subsidiary, gave $40,000 to Newsom’s gubernatorial campaign, and the company has donated smaller sums to a handful of legislative campaigns.
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owns 10% of BYD-America. The U.S. subsidiary gets subsidies from California, as part of the state’s effort to combat climate change. The California Air Resources Board reports that BYD-America has received $120 million in cap-and-trade funding to help jumpstart its electric vehicle factory.
Chinese car company contributed to Nancy : What’s going on with Newsom?
In other news, Salesforce contributed a million dollars to Governor Newsom via a Wildfire Benefits Concert. Donors can behest money in unlimited amounts, and the biggest donation to the wildfire concert was $1 million from Salesforce. Sutter Health, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California and the building trades union made large donations as well. Even the San Francisco Giants chipped in $50,000.
Other interesting reading regarding Salesforce (gave 1 million to Newsom, Nancy scooped up a crap ton of their stock in 2019).
