The MSM and Left are obsessed with Trump.
That’s funny. They’re the only ones. Trump supporters aren’t even obsessed with him.
We love Trump. We support Trump because Trump supports America.
That’s what the MAGA movement is about:
On September 18th, President Trump held a rally in Bemidji, MN, a mere fifty miles from our home. My husband, Michael, and I longed to attend but he’s in too much chronic pain and it’d take too many oxygen tanks to stand in line for ten hours. So we watched it live on Right Side Broadcasting.
The patriotism was palpable. Even through the computer screen, you could see it, hear it, taste it, touch it. That’s when I turned to Michael and exclaimed, “I want to write about America!”
How do you describe patriotism? Words are inadequate.
Sicilian immigrant and Hollywood director, Frank Capra, took a pretty good crack at it in Meet John Doe (1941) when “hard boiled editor” Connell (James Gleason) described how The Star Spangled Banner made him feel to John Doe (Gary Cooper.) Here’s the clip:
…you want to know something? I’ve got a weakness. You’d never guess that, would you? Well, I have. Want to know what it is? The Star Spangled Banner. Screwy, huh? Well, maybe it is. But play The Star Spangled Banner—and I’m a sucker for it. It always gets me right here— (thumps his diaphragm) You know what I mean?
Yessir. I’m a sucker for this country. I’m a sucker for The Star Spangled Banner—and I’m a sucker for this country.
I like what we got here! I like it!
A guy can say what he wants—and do what he wants—without having a bayonet shoved through his belly. Now, that’s all right, isn’t it?
All right. And we don’t want anybody coming around changing it, do we?
No, sir. And when they do I get mad! I get boiling mad. And right now, John, I’m sizzling!
I get mad for a lot of other guys besides myself—I get mad for a guy named Washington! And a guy named Jefferson—and Lincoln. Lighthouses, John! Lighthouses in a foggy world! You know what I mean?
That’s how I feel but I could never express it so eloquently.
When I was a little girl, my mother carefully explained what an incredible blessing it is to be born in the United States of America and that Freedom exists because we take personal responsibility for our actions. I believe this as fervently now as I did when Mother impressed it on me four decades ago.
So every time I hear The Star Spangled Banner, I stand and put my hand over my heart and try to sing along but I can’t because the lump in my throat is too big and my eyes are brimming over with tears. I joke the feeling of patriotism starts at my Adam’s apple, wraps right ’round my neck and ties in a big red bow at the back. I bleed red, white and blue like my WWII Marine grandfather who always stood to attention and saluted when he heard, “From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli.” Grandpa didn’t talk about patriotism. He lived it. Semper fi.
I love America. I love the Idea. I love her documents, her flag, her symbols, her songs, her traditions, her vets and my fellow patriots. I love what she stands for. I’m passionate about my freedom. I love Trump because he stands for what America has always stood for expressed so eloquently in The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Documents we Americans consider almost as Divinely Inspired as the Holy Bible.
It’s as simple as that. God. Family. Country. Simple.
But the Left, the Deep State, the Squad, the MSM can’t fathom concepts so simple and yet so profound. Their minds are too small, too suspicious, too complicated and too greedy to understand something so good. Like Gary Cooper said in Meet John Doe:
I’m just a mug and I know it. But I’m beginning to understand a lot of things. Why, your type’s old as history. If you can’t lay your dirty fingers on a decent idea and twist it and squeeze it and stuff it into your own pocket, you slap it down! Like dogs, if you can’t eat something, you bury it!
So they obsess about Trump the Man because as Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot revealed after the foiled kidnapping plot on the Michigan Governor: “All roads lead back to Trump.” Everything is his fault. Narcissistic projection at its finest.
Yes, Trump is the the leader of the party, the Executive Branch, the most visible member of the movement but it’s so much bigger than him. He just made it cool to be loudly and proudly patriotic again. We always felt it. Trump made it safe to express it again.
Frankly, I think the Left is jealous. We MAGA folks are having a high ol’ time. Each rally is a big patriotic party and they’re the bitter wallflowers. Sucks to be a socialist!
America is the biggest, best and most successful experiment in Getting Human Life Right in the history of homo sapiens. For many decades, we lost our way. We’re returning to our Divinely Inspired precepts with President Trump at the helm of our Ship of State.
So if you too have tears running down your face when “Oh-oh, say can you see…” rings out or when Lee Greenwood croons, “For I’m proud to be an American, for at least I know I’m free,” let the tears flow.
Be proud of your patriotism and pass me the tissues! I know just how you feel.
