By Mario Alexis Portella | Moment To Restore Law and Order : This past week Fox News’ Tucker Carlson took aim at our government officials for their lack of effort to defend law-abiding American citizens and legal residents from the present-day anarchists’ violence that seeks nothing else than destroy our democratic way of life.
Both the Democrat and Republican lawmakers have welcomed the present civil war created by the well-organized and well-funded woke mobs. The former by adhering to the whims of Black Lives Matter (BLM) to riot and topple our historic monuments under the auspices that they represent white supremacy; the latter by refusing to publicly admit that BLM is a domestic terrorist instrument for Marxists who wish to take over our land. Both parties paving the way to have our fundamental rights —to freedom of speech, the right to peaceful public assembly and to exercise religion, as well as the right to bear arms, etc.—to be stripped from us.
For the past weeks our nation has had to watch in horror, fear and confusion as the police have been unable or have been kept by elected officials from using necessary force to restore law and order. And while the anarchists’ drive to defund the police a couple of weeks ago seemed preposterous, now one-third of Americans support it. While politicians are to blame, I regret to say that this burden falls more on President Donald Trump as a result of his reluctance to root out the problem.
Moment To Restore Law and Order : Statues are Crumbling
This Thursday The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan explained: “Donald Trump’s hold on history loosened, and may be breaking. In some new way his limitations are being seen and acknowledged, and at a moment when people are worried about the continuance of their country and their own ability to continue within it. He hasn’t been equal to the multiple crises.”
Trump has vowed to protect statues of Jesus Christ and statues of the Founding Fathers in the U.S. from woke mobs, saying: “Not going to happen as long as I’m here.”
Yet as writer Carol Brown stated: “Marxists, anarchists, sociopaths, criminals, foreign actors and braindead brainwashed college-educated lemmings had already desecrated and toppled statues of Washington and Jefferson by the time the President made his statement. Someone might want to bring that to his attention.” For example:
- On Thursday, June 19, in Portland, Oregon, a group of roughly 20 people—none who were arrested—wrapped an American flag around the bronze statue, lit it on fire and finished off their vandalism by applying “Big Floyd,” “F– cops,” and other graffiti related to slavery.
- On that same day, also in Portland, a statue of Thomas Jefferson, our country’s third president and author of the Declaration of Independence, was defaced and torn down on Sunday evening outside a high school in Portland, Oregon.
Carol went on to point out that with exception of sending in the National Guard to Washington, DC, and in light of statement—after woke rioters publicly announced their intention to pull an Emancipation monument paid by former slaves—Trump appeared clueless and feeble as he continued to make tough talk threats via Twitter (a ridiculous medium for the President to use to address matters of great importance) with no follow through.
Moment To Restore Law and Order : Seattle’s Autonomous Zone
President Trump has even threatened to send federal assets to reclaim the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone in Seattle, Washington, which has been tormented by criminals. In a Daily Caller exclusive Oval Office interview, Trump said that he had discussed the situation with Attorney General Bill Barr. When asked by the Daily Caller what Barr is “advising” him to do, Trump answered, “right now, I think it’s great sitting back and watching this catastrophe.”
I do not want to deny that the President was trying to disclose what life in the U.S. would be if liberals took over the White House and both houses of Congress—but what he is criticizing is happening under his watch. It was surely the “wrong” response, a Tucker Carlson said. It actually purports a president who is indifferent to the safety of the American people.
“A president is responsible for all Americans, no matter where they live, for the country itself,” Carlson commented. “Imagine if you had a bitter argument with one of your children. The kid runs out of the house, then goes completely off the deep end and becomes a heroin addict living in the streets. But you don’t look for him. You don’t try and save him. Instead, you brag that his drug addiction is proof you were right all along. ‘Right now I think it’s great sitting back watching this catastrophe.’ You wouldn’t say that, no good parent would say that. No president should say it either. We need help and we need it right now. These are not protests, this is a totalitarian political movement, and someone needs to save the country from it.”
Moment To Restore Law and Order : The Nation is Sinking
President Woodrow Wilson once said: “The man who is swimming against the stream knows the strength of it,” which meant a president must be strong and take during critical moments, lest he allows the nation to sink into a pit hole.
Wilson, understanding the watershed moment, especially after he sent U.S. troops into the First World War to defend democracy, he was confronted with a potential civil war in America by violent Marxist anarchists.
He successfully weeded out the domestic terrorists by clamping down on some libel norms, allowing him to crack down on the organizers—he was not bashful in using force; he managed to arrest thousands and deport 556 insurrectionists.
Incidentally, while Wilson did screen the pro-Ku Klux Klan film Birth of a Nation in the White House, he did not approve of it or claimed it was historically accurate, as many accuse him of doing. Instated, he aparrently said: “I have always felt that this was a very unfortunate production and I wish most sincerely that its production might be avoided, particularly in communities where there are so many colored people.” He also, despite public condemnation from white southerners, denounced lynchings against black Americans—this is not an absolution of his personal racists tendencies towards various races, to say nothing of his ineffectiveness to desegregate the country as the Jim Crow laws took effect.
This is Trump’s watershed moment. There is not doubt that he can restore law and order, but he has to act now.
